Just wanted to say that I am almost finished with the crazy idea I had concerning the cool sequencer of the mpc2k and the great sampling properties of the asrx-pro.I have managed to take both of them and stuff em into one machine,so now I have the best of both worlds and it works! Its a bomb! Here are the specs so far which will make live jamming much more fun:
Before: MPC2k Powerchord External zip ZIp power supply scsi cabel carry case ASR X pro power chord external zip zip power supply scsi cable carry case midi and audio cables After:
1 MPC2k with built in ASR X pro both sharing 1 internal zip drive. 1 power chord 1carry case
I am just reaching the final stage where the display and knobs from the ASR Xpro will be mounted as a foldable unit just above the MPC similar to the filter bank but much thinner. The origal dimensions of the mpc stay unchanged. The only weak spot being the fact that space is not available for output expansions of either system but this will be solved later. Now I have the strenth of the MPC2k sequencer with 32mb of drum stuff combined with the ASRXpros re/sampling and effects power with another 66mb of sample space. And all in one box, easy to carry and and no more decisions what to leave at home.THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! I will be back when the beast is ready for pics.

Just finished the front panel...it still looks a bit prototypish but its working so far and I will spend some time messing around with it a bit to see whether and what things need to be cleaned up.
I will have pics up in the next few days...
