Does anyone have experience with this? I'm trying to do all my sequencing in Pro Tools. I'd like to have the instruments per track, as to be able to fade out, slice, copy paste, that kind of thing. Im new to MIDI but I'm reading a book on it, + the manuals... so I'm making progress. I also have Reason and I'd like to sync the two of those up, maybe have drum tracks fed into Pro Tools, and then sample and synthesize w/ the ASR.... ;D

I'm not too familiar with the digital I/O, I sample through the audio In's mainly. Try asking Polaris or one of the other mods on here. They'll know what's up- I'm interested to know what the problem is.

I dont have the ASR manual here with me, so Ill just explain this off the top of my head. In PT, under Midi, set midi beat clock on. Im not really sure about the PT side of things. Set the ASR to 'CLOCK SOURCE=MIDI'. If you have the manual its in Sequencing/MIDI Applications - syncing to a drum machine.
What Ive told you here applies to when youve made sequences already on the ASR. When you press play on PT then itll trigger the ASR to play along with PT. You can mute different wavesamples or tracks so you can record just the kick, or just the snare onto separate tracks, which is really useful for mixing. Remember to stick in a measure or two at the beginning for the two to sync up nice and tight.
Let me know how you go

A little update:
I've been recording the tracks on each sequence into PT as audio loops, as I saw a video tutorial on Grooveboxmusic.com showing how to get one's hip hop beats from their workstation keyboard, mpc, etc, onto PT. This worked great for a few songs, and greatly improved my mixing.... BUT.... I've found that it's near impossible to get the loops to not sound as good as the original, considering it's VERY difficult to mask the begining and end points of the loops. It ends up not as seemless as I had created on the ASR, so I realized midi clocking it is how it must go down. If there's one thing I can't stand, its loosing that groove in the transfer. I might as well not have made it.
So, I'm working on getting the two working togeather properly... I'll update as soon as I do!
