Man that would be dope... but you dont really need to put it IN the ASR, you can connect an external via SCSI, whether it be your computer or HD alone. Thats my next project...

that's just the thing. i don't have the sp-3 scsi interface. but i have an 2.5gb ide drive that i have that's not being used. i heard of people doing this to their mpc's, just wondering if it could be done with the asr-10.

You have to have the SCSI interface and a SCSI HD to connect a HD to your ASR-10 or MPC. You may be able to install an internal SCSI HD on the ASR-10 rack version but the keyboard version probably does not have room to install a HD.

the asr-10 is known for gettin quite hot as it is so im sure it would only get hotter with an internal hd...

i opened my ASR rack, but there is no space for HD.. maybe there is a space under the boards.. but its a lot of work to remove them.. and as it was mentioned above it is very hot .. i would not advice you to do that

if you could remote (extend the wires) the HD and attach it to the top or bottom in an aluminum project box with some computer fans... it might be possible.... and that would be very sick. In fact you would be my hero. BUT you run a risk of ruining your beautiful sampling machine.
