first day on these boards and i got 2 questions already. here's the second and thanks in advance for the help. forums like this are a beautiful thing.
i got the free versions of awave and ensoniq disk tools and still can't get win xp to read an asr-10 formatted floppy disk, (or get asr-10 to read an xp-formatted disk, for that matter).
there are thousands of asr instruments floating around the internet. i know it's possible to get them from PC to ASR, but how? I have no SCSI drives. just floppy. If i can't do it with floppy then i guess MIDI is my only option.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

you have to DL a dos based program like EPSDisk or something that will alow you to create a ASR disk image. I still can't make it work but try www.chickensys.com they have all king of info on it.

Awave Studio is the f**kin $hit!!! this should be your only way of converting wav and mp3s files to EFE. then translator free to place it on your scsi drive. its not one two three but its quick and works

like i said, i have no scsi drives. converting file formats is not my problem. i want to get downloaded instruments onto my ASR. Not that I'm too lazy to make my own instruments, I just want to see how others put theirs together with layers and multisampling and all that.
i tried EPSDisk from the Translator Free package last night (on both 98SE and XP), and the $hit don't work. At least not for what I wanted it to do, which is to GET DOWNLOADED INSTRUMENTS ONTO MY ASR-10.

epsdisc would b tha way to go..
first put the floppy u want to use in the drive.. erase it with windows first (My Computer>Floppy A>Right Click-Format).. this is just to make sure the floppy is clean
Now copy the epsdisk.exe to the folder that has the efe files u wanna use.. now double click on epsdisk.exe and then type F for format.. this will format the floppy again, but this time in EPS/ASR format.. now type W for write, then type in the file name of the file u wanna put on the disc, ie bas$hit.efe, hit enter and it should put it on the floppy
Epsdisc won't recognize a filename if it has too many letters, so be sure to keep your filenames short, or rename them if they're too long.. it won't work if the filenames are too long
I've heard epsdisk acts funny in windows xp, but i use it all the time in windows 98 with no problems
